Every house here has one bedroom and sleeps two. That is the whole rule, and at the time of writing it covers 56 places, spread from Martinhoe and Lynmouth on the coast to Dunster, Dulverton, North Molton and Wiveliscombe.
They come in many shapes. The Chapel at Brompton Regis was built in 1854. Sheepfold Cottage sits above the River Barle, two miles from Dulverton. There are shepherd’s huts and log cabins near North Molton, huts and a yurt at Allerford, a studio at Porlock Weir and a tower at Birch Cleave, near Simonsbath.
Small does not always mean simple, so read each listing. Bramley Hut and Victoria Hut at Allerford are off-grid. Some places, such as The Woodman’s Hut near Minehead, have a hot tub of their own. Cartier’s Retreat at Dunster is for adults only.
