The medieval village of Dunster offers several cosy cafes.
The Lost Kitchen at Chettiscombe EX16 7PT is well worth finding for freshly prepared Pizzas and leisurely lunches. It's close to Knightshayes Court too.

Dulverton holds a Farmers Market on - 29 July; 26 August and 30 September 2023

Wiviliscombe Farmers Market - 9.30-12.45 Saturdays. Local fish, cheese, bread, veg, flowers, gourmet meals, apple juice and more. While in Wivvy [as the locals call it] Phoenix Kitchen is great for picnic goodies etc.

Swimming Pools in Wiviliscombe, Minehead, Taunton

The annual country shows at Porlock in July, Dunster, Exford  and Brompton Regis in August are a lovely day out to see the best of local livestock and crafts.

Walks:

Wimbleball Lake is perfect for a short 10 minute stroll from you door to the café. If you would like to venture a bit further a 30-minute walk (just over a mile) takes you to the dam.
It's worth walking the entire perimeter of the lake. Spend about 3 hours on 'The Lakeside Round Walk' – 9 miles (14.5km).  You'll enjoy long waterside sections, many peaceful woodland trails and views of the River Haddeo. This route is the round the lake walk but there are also a number of cycle trails with cycle hire available too. The three well surfaced trails are great for riders of all abilites.

From Dunkery Beacon, where you will see spectacular views for miles around there are many walks over open moorland down to sea level with some tea rooms and pubs on the way.

From Dulverton to Tarr Steps with it's wooded paths along the river Barle, a bite to eat at Tarr Steps Inn, then up onto open fields.

The South West Coast Path can be picked up from the start at Minehead, a 30 minute drive away. The Exmoor Explorer open-top bus stops at various locations close to the coast path if you would like to take a scenic ride back to your car.

Walk the ancient Mineral railway line from Raleghs Cross.

The Coldridge Way and South West Coast Path are also close.

Simonsbath to Withypool, travelling past 'Cow Castle' and over 'Lanacre Bridge' and through our other farm 'Pickedstones' is one of my personal favourites, stopping at The Exmoor Forrest Hotel or Withypool for refreshments.

There are so many amazing walks that I could ramble on for ages.  Instead there will be maps and guide books at The Pony Stall so that you can plan you route.

Beaches:

The shores of Wimbleball are very beach-like in summer. But if you are looking for a dose of sea air Minehead and Blue Anchor are just half an hour away.  

For miles of golden sand make the 1 hour trip for Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde or Saunton Sands the perfect family day out or surfers paradise.
