The hut is tucked into a private corner of a field on a working farm, with a fenced outdoor area offering a peaceful spot to sit and take in the rural surroundings. A picnic bench and firepit provide space for outdoor meals or evenings under the stars, and a freestanding bath is tucked around the side — perfect for a quiet soak after a day exploring. Beyond the fence, guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounding grounds and walks across the West Down Estate. As this is a working farm, cattle may be present in nearby fields, so dogs should be kept on a lead when appropriate. Parking is at the top of the hill with a 5 minute walk down over the grassy field (while admiring the views) to reach the hut which is tucked away at the bottom.

This area provides a great base for walking, cycling and exploring. There are miles of walking routes and many pretty villages to sightsee throughout North Devon and Exmoor. There are also opportunities to ride, to play golf or to visit a number of outstanding gardens such as those at Marwood, Castle Hill Estate and RHS Rosemoor.
