Bobs Cottage, Porlock Weir (Somerset) is a Grade II listed thatched, mid-terrace cottage in one of Exmoor's most iconic coastal hamlets, moments from the harbour and steps from the beach. Sleeps up to 5 guests across three bedrooms, off-road parking for one vehicle, and dogs welcome.
Bob's Cottage is part of a remarkable row of 17th-century thatched cottages at Porlock Weir. Split over three levels, the property has an unusual layout and is bursting with character throughout. It has recently been thoroughly updated while keeping all the charm you'd hope for; ancient exposed beams, roughcast stone walls, a huge inglenook fireplace and windows that frame the coastal outlook. The result is a cottage that feels genuinely historic but very comfortable, with stylish, considered interiors. Sleeps up to 5 guests 3 bedrooms: 1 king-size double, 1 twin, 1 single One family bathroom with bath, separate shower and toilet One en-suite shower room with toilet (off the double bedroom) Comfortable sitting room with electric stove Kitchen-dining room with seating for 6 Front and rear courtyard/patio areas, with outside seating Dogs welcome for £20 per dog, maximum of 2 (additional dogs may be possible by arrangement - please contact us with breeds/sizes of your dogs) One off-road car parking space Strictly no smoking Arrive from 4 pm Depart by 10 am Bobs Cottage is virtually on the beach at Porlock Weir, the rear garden area leads directly onto the pebble ridge and the South West Coastal Path. Entrance is via a patio area at the front of the property, the small porch leads into the open-plan kitchen and dining area. The sitting room completes the ground floor, and the large window at the rear looks directly out over the beach - it's from here that guests access the rear garden, via the window; a well-trodden route that's part of the cottage's charm. The period features include exposed ancient beams overhead, and a large inglenook housing an electric stove that makes it a particularly cosy spot out of season. Stairs from the living area lead you to the first floor, where you'll find the twin room, the single bedroom, and the family bathroom with a full-size bath and separate shower with contemporary tiling in soft grey-green tones. Up the stairs again to the second floor, to the master bedroom with king-size bed, and en-suite shower room with toilet. There is limited headroom at the top of the stairs in the master bedroom due sloped ceilings, caution is advised. Please note, as you would expect in a 17th-century cottage, the stairs are steep and curved, with a handrail provided. A stair gate is provided on the bottom of the stairs. NOTE, please be advised the property next door is presently undergoing some renovation works during June 2026 (only during working hours, Mon-Fri). Noise will be kept to a minimum when Bobs Cottage is occupied.
