A 5 minute field walk to Porlock Weir harbour with its pub and cafes, Worthy Cottage is a quiet, cosy 'gatehouse' cottage with sea views from the bedroom and is ideal for couples looking for a romantic break. Great walking from the door. Salmon fishing on Lyn and Exe. Frequent repeat visits
Worthy Cottage is one half of a converted barn; downstairs is an open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room with log-burner. Upstairs is the bathroom and good sized bedroom with king-sized bed and great views across the Manor gardens to the sea beyond. The private garden (not enclosed) next to the cottage offers the perfect place to enjoy this unspoiled corner of Exmoor. Appliances and equipment Worthy Cottage kitchen is fitted with washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric oven and ceramic hob. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. Iron and Ironing board and hair dryer are included. A television with Sky TV (basic package) with BT Sports channel, DVD player and CD player is provided in the living room and wireless broadband is available throughout the property. A travel cot and/or high chair is available; please request them when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival. There is no dishwasher in this cottage. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Worthy Cottage is fitted with wall-mounted heaters in the bedroom and living area, which can provide instant heat or programmed to suit, plus a wall-mounted heater and heated towel rail in the bathroom. There is also a wood burner in the living area; kindling, matches and one basket of logs will be provided. Additional logs can be purchased from the owner or from the hardware shop in Porlock. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cot. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, washing powder and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. Worthy Cottage has its own private garden (not enclosed). There is walking straight from the door into the woods behind or down to the beach where dogs are allowed all year round. Off-road parking for one car is available directly outside the property. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Worthy Cottage is strictly non-smoking. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.

Worthy Cottage has its own private garden (not enclosed adjacent to the property. There is walking straight from the door into the woods behind the property or the footpath leads down to the beach where dogs are allowed all year round. There is a bench in the garden.

The region
+ MoreThe harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is 1/2 mile from Worthy Cottage - across the fields or by road. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, ...etc. The village of Porlock is approximately 2 miles from Worthy Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles from Worthy Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
Porlock Weir has a pub called The Ship Inn (aka The Bottom Ship) by the harbour. There is also a couple of restaurants in the hotels in Porlock Weir called Locanda and Porlock Weir Hotel and Restaurant. Further afield into Porlock village there any many more pubs and restaurants which is about 5 min drive. You can walk to Porlock Weir in less than 10 mins through the fields (via the footpath).
The cottage lies directly on the Coast Path. Lynmouth is a 10 mile walk. There are numerous other walks form the door. Other good starting places include Bossington, Selworthy, Webbers Post, Malmesmead, Tarr Steps., County Gate. Boots desirable in winter, trainers in summer ok. The beach is a 5 minute walk. The nearest sandy beaches are Minehead and Dunster. Lee bay beyond Lynmouth is shingle and grey sand and is a nice one. The big sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Saunton and Braunton are all about an hour away.
