The TV has a FireTV stick installed, meaning that you can access streaming services such as Netflix, BBC iplayer, Amazon Prime accounts easily. A door from the lounge takes you into the conservatory - a lovely space to sit during the day, a small sofa, chairs and rug and then sliding glass doors lead you to the patio at the back of the property. The patio is paved and secluded. There is a gate to passageway along the side of the property to the front and this access to the patio and from there to the utility room makes returning from a long walk easy. Upstairs, left takes you to the double room at the front of the property, with window and view to the front, plus hanging space and drawers. Next to the double (and closed off from the stairs and landing by a curtain, there is a modern bathroom with spa bath, shower over and saniflo toilet. The shower room has mains toilet, basin and shower cubicle, with a small window and next door is the third bed room at the back, with good quality wooden bunk beds (3ft). There is a small courtyard/patio area directly behind the cottage, with table and chairs - the perfect spot for a morning coffee. Opposite the cottage (across the small road and by the parking spaces) there is a small patio area with table and chairs under the tree, or for more privacy, there is a gate and steps leading down to a private garden area beside Hawkcombe stream. Take a book and enjoy listening to the stream running by! (Please note, the steps down to the streamside garden are steep and due to the location, children must be supervised. The speed/flow of the stream can vary considerably depending on the time of year and recent rainfall). On the opposite side of the stream you have use of a further small paved area surrounded by shrubs and trees, and enjoying the sun into the later afternoon. This area is accessed via a bridle path or - in the summer, by wading across the stream - carefully!

The region
+ MorePorlock is a wonderful working Exmoor village and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre, several art galleries and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Porloc...k Weir is approximately 1.5 miles from Porlock and is well worth a visit. There's a pub, restaurant, and take-away plus a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc. Many of the shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles from Porlock. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Morrison's and Lidl are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
There are many, many walks to be enjoyed on Exmoor. From the front door of High Bank, turn right and you are on a trail up Ley Coombe on to the moor; a moderate 6.5 mile walk takes you up to Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor's highest point. A gentle two mile walk, heading down the hill and through Porlock village brings you to Bossington beach and from there you can turn right and explore Bossington Hill, and a lovely woodland trail brings you from there to Selworthy village and its famously picturesque white church.
